The seven time Formula One world champion Michael Schumacher has said that he is looking to continue his relationship with Mercedes after retiring from the spot for the second time at the end of the season. Michael Schumacher announced his retirement from the spot back in 2006, but returned in 2010 with Mercedes. However, his second spell in the sport has not been as successful because he has not been able to add to the 91 victories in his glory days. Due to the fact that Mercedes recently announced a deal to bring in Lewis Hamilton at the end of this season, Schumacher was left without a team for next season.
He has now decided to retire rather than continue with a lower team. Despite retiring from the sport, he has no grudges about returning for the second spell. His mission to return to motorsport has been criticised by many after it has apparently led him to lose some of his legendary status. Schumacher has admitted that he does not know what he will be doing once the season comes to a close, but has expressed his desire to remain with the Mercedes team in some form. Mercedes will be having a very strong line-up from next season onwards with the addition of Hamilton.
“There is no plan as such as to what I am going to do exactly after the end of this year. I have various options — there is a possibility to continue work with Mercedes in different directions but the main point for me right now is to keep focus on what I am doing. We haven’t made the Mercedes mission successful yet. But I don’t remember any such mission being possible in just 3 years,” said Schumacher ahead of the Indian Grand Prix during the weekend.
